Bingo operators across Arkansas would like to see taxes on the game lowered.

And it looks like they might get their way.

In 2006, Arkansas voters passed a proposal to allow charitable groups to operate bingo games and raffles. Though technically illegal, the state had allowed bingo off and on, more or less openly, for years before a crackdown several years before the 2006 measure.

Currently, the state levies a 1-cent tax on each bingo card. Bingo operators say the tax takes away money that could be used to help others.
