Unless you’ve purchased and tried to register a used car in Texas in the past couple of years, you might not have noticed either.

Under a law that took effect back in October of 2006, Texans who buy a used car, truck or motorcycle for a certain price may well face a bit more in taxes than they expected.

Because the state now requires counties to tax used vehicles purchased from individuals based on 80 percent of Blue Book value, not sale price.
