Even as the nation, world and market economies careen back and forth dangerously above the brink, Texas Comptroller Susan Combs brings this region some good news.
We’re in pretty good shape.
Her office’s report, “Texas in Focus: Upper East Texas,” available free online at www.window.state.tx.us/publications, paints an interesting profile of the 23 counties bunched in this corner of the state, one that reinforces a lot of what we already know: We’re not the most dynamic part of the state, but we’re not about to be overtaken by a wave of gloom and doom either.
