The curtain finally has dropped on that theater of the absurd production we have called the Miller County Jail for the last two years. Sheriff Linda Rambo resigned Friday effective Monday.

A retired Arkansas state trooper, Rambo was elected sheriff two years ago by voters who believed her background and training—and the potential for running a tight ship—were superior to the other candidates’ seeking to replace longtime Sheriff H.L. Phillips, who retired.

On paper she looked good. The reality turned out to be farcical.
