Voting officials apply rules on voting garb a bit too broadly

On Election Day, voting officials at the New Boston First Baptist Church polling place turned away a handful of individuals who showed up wearing apparel promoting a particular candidate in the running that day.

And that’s fine. There is a rule that prohibits campaigning within a 100 feet of a polling place and wearing, for example, an Obama or McCain T-shirt to vote would clearly be a violation.
