Texarkana, Ark., suffered a surprising blow last week when it was announced that a local developer had decided to move a proposed hotel/convention center project across the state line to Texas.

It wasn’t that many months ago the Arkansas side announced the project was to be built adjacent to Interstate 30 in the Crossroads Business Park. Everyone was all smiles back then.

But last week, City Manager Harold Boldt had to tell city officials that the developer, Jack Daugherty, had pulled the plug on the project—at least as far as Arkansas is concerned.
