Some school library policies discourage skilled readers

One would think our schools would encourage their students to read. But are they unintentionally holding some bright kids back?

Of course, schools teach reading. And they grade students on their progress. They have programs in place and follow the guidelines.

And they provide extra instruction to those who fall behind. The teachers care about their students and want them to become good readers who enjoy spending time with the written word.

But some students are able to read beyond their grade level. They enjoy reading. They want to read more than other kids...
