Just a few days from now 2008 will give way to 2009.

The new year is supposed to a time of new beginnings, good intentions and resolutions. But too often we can’t move ahead because of things in the past holding us back.

It’s common problem. And a group of New Yorkers have come up with a novel solution.

The Times Square Alliance set up a giant shredder Sunday in that landmark area of Manhattan. New York residents and holiday tourists to were invited to write down and shred any unpleasant memories in order to start the new year fresh.
