It’s not every day a governor goes missing.

But that’s what happened last week when South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford took off without a word to anyone or even a note explaining where he had gone.

After reporters started nosing around last week, his staff announced Sanford had gone hiking on the Appalachian Trail.

The governor’s wife, meanwhile, told reporters she didn’t know where he was.
