It’s high time.

Labor Secretary Hilda Solis announced last week that Texas will be making the acquaintance of federal safety inspectors on its construction sites, particularly those involving trenches, scaffolding and other safety hazards. We imagine those sites requiring cranes also will get a look-see.

Construction projects that require scaffolding, cranes and trenches usually represent high-dollar development—in other words, prosperity and progress. No one wants to hinder that. And we all know that accidents will happen.
