Today Texas-side voters go to the polls to ponder even more additions to the state’s already huge and unwieldy Constitution.

The current document is the seventh the state has had and was originally adopted in 1876. Since that time the state’s residents have voted to add 456 amendments and rejected another 176. The state Constitution is designed to limit government, so just about anything of any importance must be proposed as an amendment and voted on.
