Novelist F. Scott Fitzgerald famously wrote: “Let me tell you about the very rich. They are different from you and me.” Put another way, they consider themselves, and others often consider them, the select, the chosen, the elect.

And increasingly, over time, it seems the elected also consider themselves elect.
