The U.S. House of Representatives narrowly passed the Democratic health care reform proposal Saturday, 220-215.

It was a victory for President Barack Obama, who has made health care reform the centerpiece of his administration so far, and the Democratic leadership of the House—but a symbolic victory at best.

Because this bill has no chance in the Senate.

The House bill contains a provision for a government-run health insurance plan—the so-called “public option” that is a deal-killer for Republicans and moderate Democrats in the Senate.
