“Uncertain Times,” a fictional novel by George Smith, a former Texarkana resident, was recently published. A former executive editor of the Texarkana Gazette, Smith is a resident of Cabot, Ark .

Smith, a native of Hope, Ark., went to school in Hope and Avery, Texas, in Red River County. He is a 1963 graduate of Avery.

Setting of “Uncertain Times” are Caddo Lake and Marshall, Texas. Chapters in the book take place as “dream sequences” near Hope and in Avery.
