Region offers many options for reveling in Mardi Gras fun

With Fat Tuesday just 18 days away, Mardi Gras season has arrived with gusto as the good times get rolling.

Local celebrations include Mardi Gras Texarkana on Saturday, Feb. 25, at Front Street Festival Plaza with parades, beads, vendors and more. This year's parade theme is Decades to Remember. Mardi Gras Upriver in Jefferson, Texas, runs Feb. 24-26 with live music (Sarah Hobbs, Boudreaux, Sundance Head, What the Funk? and more) a grand parade and more revelry.

If want to get that Louisiana flavor of Mardi Gras in the Pelican State itself but can't make it to New Orleans, consider the Shreveport-Bossier City celebrations. Several parades are scheduled in the coming weeks, including The Krewe of Centaur Parade on Feb. 18, The Krewe of Barkus and Meoux Pet Parade on Feb. 19, The Krewe of Gemini Grand Parade on Feb. 25 and The Krewe of Highland Parade on Feb. 26.
