Some big shows are on the horizon for the Texarkana area, including a hometown show by David Crowder, formerly of the David Crowder Band and now going solo.

Under the name Crowder, he's performed solo in recent years and brings himself to back to his hometown of Texarkana as part of his Texas Takeover Tour.

Crowder, who's both Grammy nominated and a Dove Award winner, performs Sunday, Jan. 14, at 6 p.m. at the Perot Theatre.

The soulful-voiced, big-bearded Christian musician followed up his first solo release, "Neon Steeple," with the album "American Prodigal" about a year ago and describes his music now as "folktronica," which explores his spiritual themes and is informed in some way about his time in a new home, Atlanta, Ga.

Tickets are already on sale and going fast. They're $19 for general reserved, $40 for Artists Circle and $75 for VIP. Call the Perot Theatre box office at 903-792-4992 or visit TRAHC.org for more information.

A few weeks later on Friday, Feb. 2, Southern rockers 38 Special arrive for a Hope, Ark., concert at Hempstead Hall.

Arena pop masters 38 Special are known for classics like "Rockin' Into the Night," "Teacher Teacher," "Caught Up in You" and "Back Where You Belong." They'll be in town as part of the Ark-La-Tex Outdoor Expo, and you can get tickets at HempsteadHall.com. They range between $20 and $75.

Before those winter concerts, though, check out Gene Watson, who's dedicated to a traditional country sound, when he makes a stop at Music City Texas Theater in Linden. He performs in concert on Saturday, Dec. 2, show time at 8 p.m. with reserved seating available.

Tickets for Watson are $35 per person, and you can get them by calling 903-756-9934. For more information, visit MusicCityTexas.org.

Watson has a new gospel CD coming out, "My Gospel Roots," which follows his 2016 release, the appropriately titled "Real. Country. Music" that came out on Fourteen Carat Music last year.
