The monthly Soul Session events at Twin City Sports Bar have become so popular they necessitate a larger venue, even for a two-year anniversary celebration Saturday night.
Elmore has hosted Soul Session for the last year and a half, said Arnold. She's both a great performer in her own right and an engaging host for the show.
"We actually got her on a show one time, and man she turned the place out," he said, noting she brought the event to a whole different level.
Kenya C., who sings soul, R&B and Top 40 music, hails from Dallas. "She's really one of the hottest artists in Dallas. She's opened for pretty much every big act to come through," Arnold said. Monique Renee performs with Kenya C. Together they do a touring "Dueling Divas" R&B show that combines a concert with a stage play.
"She specializes more in funk and R&B," Arnold said of Monique Renee.
In Dave Mack, Soul Session features a blues singer coming in from Mississippi.
And in Gregatron, aka Greg Williams, Soul Session has Arnold describes as a "super producer." "He's had a few tracks that have been picked up by Netflix movies and stuff like that," he said. He's also playing with One Zound as keyboard player. As a producer, Gregatron for this show will bring in a few different artists, said Arnold, and perform keyboard solos.
"He plays two keyboards at one time, and he doesn't miss a beat," the promoter said.
It's a stacked lineup for the Soul Session anniversary show. Arnold admits he's a little surprised that Soul Session has found so much success here in Texarkana, but his enthusiasm for it is infectious and you can tell he's enjoying it.
"With it being Texarkana, I'm real surprised, you know. But with the way the show is I can say it's one of the best things I've seen," Arnold said.
The consistency has made Soul Session successful, and he credits God with the chance to start it. His experience as a rapper and then getting into producing these events brought him in touch with musicians and singers.
"As successful as it is, the acts just get hotter and hotter and hotter," Arnold said.
To celebrate Soul Session and its soulful lineup of talented singers and artists, check out Saturday night's anniversary show, an event Arnold describes as a "grown and sexy event." Look for future Soul Session shows to be held at On the Boulevard.
