Dinosaur dreamers can get up-close thrills with 50 life-sized prehistoric beasts coming to Texarkana this weekend.
Saturday and Sunday at Central Mall, My Jurassic Adventure features dozens of what's described as "ultra realistic" animatronic dinosaurs presented in a natural habitat setting.
Visitors can also enjoy the dinosaur and ATV rides, a dinosaur band, hands-on interactive exhibits, a fossil dig for future paleontologists, bungee run, dinosaur inflatables (bounce houses) and a jungle full of other activities for children and children-at-heart to enjoy.
A new aspect to the dino-mite fun is the Ice Age exhibit featuring a saber-toothed tiger, a fearsome creature known to hunt bison with its trusted weaponry of long, sharp, fang-like upper canines.
Elsewhere, meet the infamous Tyrannosaurus Rex, the triple-horned Triceratops, the crafty Velociraptor with its sickle-shaped claw and the Spinosaurus with its sail-like spine. Tracey, a baby T-Rex, acts as My Jurassic Adventure's greeter and visits with children.
Learn about baby dinosaurs and interact with these young reptiles, or watch as dinosaurs walk amongst the visitors. Virtual reality headsets offer a way to see and feel what it was like to step along the Earth during the Jurassic days. It's billed as a "5D interactive experience," according to the Jurassic Adventure website.
The hours are Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. All-day access admission is $29 for children (2-12) and $24 for adults, free for children younger than 2. Some features of the experience require an extra fee.
My Jurassic Adventure will be located inside the former Home Zone Furniture building.
