CAIRO-U.S.-led coalition strikes on Islamic State-held areas in Syria since 2014 have killed nearly 12,000 people, including more than 3,300 civilians, a war monitor said Sunday.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said 3,331 civilians-among them 826 children-were killed, of a total of 11,846 people.
Thousands of others were wounded in the coalition strikes that began in Syria on Sept. 23, 2014, said Rami Abdel Rahman, the head of the Britain-based watchdog group.
The U.S.-led coalition was formed in August 2014 after Islamic State took over large parts of Syria and Iraq.
