Child porn nets man 78 months

A 31-year-old man was sentenced to more than six years in federal prison last week for possession of child pornography.

Daimen Michael Perry appeared for sentencing Wednesday before U.S. District Judge Robert Schroeder III with Mount Pleasant lawyer Bart Craytor. Perry pleaded guilty to possession of child porn May 1 before U.S. Magistrate Judge Caroline Craven in Texarkana's downtown federal building.

Perry was taken into custody after entering his plea.

According to a factual basis document filed in the Texarkana Division of the Eastern District of Texas, Perry possessed more than 600 images of children engaged in sexually explicit conduct, including some involving children younger than 12.

Perry used the internet to access the pornographic images and knowingly engaged in the distribution of child pornography, according to the factual basis.

As part of his plea agreement, Perry agreed to forfeit a computer hard drive and laptop computer. He must register as a sex offender upon his release from prison and submit a sample of his DNA to a national database.

After Perry finishes serving his 78-month term, he will be supervised by federal authorities for five years.
