The Bowie County Juvenile Detention Center is still open even though theres not much of a juvenile population left. As of Friday, the centers Interim Chief Juvenile Probation Officer Mary Choate said there currently arent any juveniles there, even though the center can and still does hold three to five of them on different days every now and then. Choate said county juveniles charged with a felony or Class A misdemeanor level offense are currently sent to a long-term detention center in Gregg County, while lower misdemeanor offenders are held for no more then a 24-hour period at the center bef...
