AVINGER, Texas A 65-year-old Avinger man was killed Sunday when his vehicle was hit by a firetruck en route to a house fire, according the media reports. John Anthony Teague was leaving the Lake O the Pines Baptist Church on Farm to Market Road 729 in a 2002 Buick about 7 p.m. when the westbound Mims Volunteer Fire Department truck struck his car on the drivers side, according to the Longview News-Journal. Avinger is near Linden and Hughes Springs. The driver of the firetruck, Terry Lee Neel of Jefferson, was not injured, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety in Texarkana.
