NEW BOSTON, Texas Bowie County commissioners agreed Monday that the county paying legal fees for poor defendants in criminal court is getting too expensive, so they asked the state for help. Commissioners will ask the Texas Task Force on Indigent Defense for possibly as much as $750,000 for this year to help offset what the county has to pay to hire attorneys for indigent defendants.
