WWII soldiers coming home

Leary man one of 10 whose remains have been identified

The remains of 10 American servicemen, missing in action from World War II, have been identified and will be returned to their families for burial with full military honors, the Department of Defense POW/Missing Personnel Office has announced. One of those recovered was 2nd Lt. Raymond A. Cooley of Leary, Texas, who piloted the ill-fated ‘Here Tis B-24 Liberator on April 16, 1944. Representatives from the Army met with the mens families in their hometowns to explain the recovery and identification process and to coordinate interment on behalf of the Secretary of the Army.
