The Wait is Over: Citys public library reopens

More than 100 people attended the Texarkana Public Librarys grand reopening and ribbon cutting Tuesday after a renovation almost six years in the making. Actual work on the building began in July, but the decision to begin the work was made in 2001. Cathy Andrews, president of the Texarkana Public Library Commission, used the ceremony to recognize everyone who made the improvements possible. ‘This project has been a long time in the works’ she said. ‘Our board began discussing the project approximately in January of 2001, after we completed a long-range facility plan.
