St. Edward Catholic Church of Texarkana, Ark., will host a communitywide prayer service at 6 p.m. today at 410 Beech St. in conjunction with the worldwide Orange and Maroon Effect Day designated by the Alumni Association for Virginia Tech. The service is open to all area residents and will include music, readings and lighting of candles in honor of the victims, families and friends of the Virginia Tech tragedy, said Michelle Karam, an alumna of VT.
