The Stamps Quartet will be in concert at 7 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, 3015 Moores Lane. The concert marks the groups fourth appearance at First Baptist. Formed in 1924, the original quartet was the first to introduce ‘Southern-style gospel singing across America. Their prestigious venues have included appearances at Radio City Music Hall and Madison Square Garden in New York, the Astrodome in Houston and the Silver Dome in Pontiac, Mich. In 1997, they were inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame.
