Lightning strikes oil tank near L-E school

Explosion forces temporary evacuation of students, teachers

Texarkana Gazette Lightning struck an oil disposal tank early Wednesday in Liberty-Eylau, causing an explosion that prompted the evacuation of the nearby middle school. No one was injured and the evacuation was only a precaution, officials said. ‘Any time oil is burning there is a potential hazard. Any time fiberglass burns there is a potential hazard’ said Texarkana Emergency Management Director Dave Hall.
