Area observances mark sacrifices by military

Ceremony and memory. Texarkana area veterans and residents remembered those who have served the United States of America, its freedom and ideas. Memorial Day services were held Monday afternoon at Hillcrest Memorial Park on U.S. Highway 67 west and hosted by Texarkana Funeral Home. About 200 attended. More than 285 flags, placed along pathways through the cemetery, were stirred by light breezes.
