Texarkana’s water free of pollution

Editor’s note: This is the last of a two-part series about environmental pollution in the Texarkana area. The story examines water pollution and purification issues and what can be done to improve water quality. Part 1 of this series in the June 3 edition dealt with air pollution.

Although there isn’t a serious water pollution problem around Texarkana, public awareness about water issues worldwide is increasing.. The Texas Watch Water Quality Monitoring Program is keeping tabs on toxicity levels and changes around Texarkana. “Texas Watch is a statewide volunteer environmental water monitoring program to check for pollution in public waterways,” said Texarkana College biology professor Delores McCright, who has been involved with the program since the mid-1980s. She encourages her students to participate and “make a difference in our environment....
