Area county faces lawsuit: Lafayette alleged to have taken citizens’ money

Lawyers representing Lafayette County argued Friday in federal court that a lawsuit alleging the county wrongfully kept money belonging to private citizens should be dismissed. The lawsuit could involve hundreds or thousands of people who were never made aware of unclaimed money held by Lafayette County, said Jim Cook, lead attorney for the plaintiffs and a member of the Texarkana law firm Dunn, Nutter and Morgan.
