A federal judge has denied the Detroit Independent School District’s motion to dismiss a lawsuit filed on behalf of a middle school student accused of accessing inappropriate material on the Internet.

Federal District Judge David Folsom of the Eastern District of Texas issued the ruling Sept. 24.

Folsom also scheduled a hearing in mid-November to address other motions filed by the school district’s lawyers requesting an end to the case and a judgment against the girl and her family for attorney fees and court costs.
