A door to the past will be opened to celebrate pioneer tradition and Native American culture at the sixth annual Archeology and Heritage Fair on Oct. 27.

“This is one of our outreach programs for people who want to know about archaeology, their heritage, and past crafts of the pioneers,” said Sammy Wacasey, who organized the event sponsored by the Texarkana Museums System. “It is an educational program to get people interested in the history of the region.”

The fair will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Spring Lake Park. The event is free.
