A draft environmental impact statement for Interstate 69, including the link that could come to Texarkana, is expected to be released later this year, Texas Department of Transportation officials said Thursday.

In a conference call, officials said further public involvement should happen next year with town hall meetings and then formal public meetings.

Doug Booher, TxDOT’s environmental manager overseeing the Trans-Texas Corridor project, said the first phase now under way narrows the corridor size from 20 to 60 miles wide down to a half-mile to 4-mile-wide corridor....
