Federal investigation begins in fatal truck-train crash

Clean-up crews began removing the engines late Friday afternoon at the intersection of the railroad and Oklahoma Highway 98 south of Wright City, Okla. The collision killed the log truck driver and critically injured the engineer.
WRIGHT CITY, Okla.—The Federal Railroad Commission started an investigation Friday into the fatal truck-train collision in which a man was killed and the train’s engineer was critically injured.

A log truck driven by James Wise, 32, of Wickes, Ark., collided with a De Queen & Eastern Railroad Co. train about 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the railroad crossing on Oklahoma Highway 98 about 200 feet south of Wright City.

Wise was pronounced dead at the scene from massive injuries, according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Rocky Green.
