Lawsuit takes aim at railroadPlaintiffs accuse company of pushing fast settlements for low amounts
Union Pacific representatives railroaded individuals with injury or wrongful death claims into accepting quick settlements at amounts far lower than what they might have received with an attorney on their side, according to a lawsuit filed in early 2005.
Attorneys representing the three named plaintiffs and Union Pacific argued their positions Thursday and Friday during a class certification hearing before Circuit Court Judge Jim Hudson.
