Officials: Cause of blaze undetermined

Fire ravaged a home Monday afternoon in Liberty-Eylau as Bowie County volunteer firefighters launched a counterattack to stop the fast-moving flames.

“Most of the fire spread fast after it got into the attic for some reason,” said Chief Bennie Cornelius of the Liberty-Eylau Volunteer Fire Department.

The fire at 5012 Eylau Loop Road was dispatched to the department at 4:57 p.m. after Keia Belin called 911 to report her house was on fire.
