A Texarkana man received a sentence of 21 months in federal prison Tuesday for attempting to rob a local bank in April.

Emmanuel Grover Davis, 39, took the opportunity to address the court when it was offered to him by U.S. District Judge David Folsom.

“I’d just like to apologize to the court,” Davis said.

Folsom offered Davis some encouraging words before pronouncing his sentence.

“I understand you were having a bad day or week,” said Folsom. “You’d lost your employment, your car and your girlfriend.”
