The Power of God Apostolic Church received moderate damage during a fire early Thursday morning, said Texarkana, Ark., Fire Marshal Steve Johnson.

The fire was reported at 4:38 a.m. in the church at 900 Hays St.

No one was inside the church when the fire started.

Johnson said the fire started near a bed in the rear section of the church. He said the minister, Wendell Cox, and his wife live in the residential part of the church where the fire started.
