A Texarkana, Ark., man was sentenced to three years in prison Tuesday after pleading guilty to bringing a gun to the Texas High-Arkansas High football game.

Marquell Peoples, 18, stood before Miller County Circuit Judge Jim Hudson with his defense attorney Shannon Tuckett, head public defender for Miller County and Deputy Prosecutor Chuck Black.

“If you take a gun on school property that’s the fate you can expect to receive: time in the penitentiary,” Black said following the hearing. “There is absolutely no excuse for bringing a deadly weapon onto school property.”
