United Way funds help provide meals, services for senior citizens

Senior Citizens Services Inc. provides invaluable services to the elderly in our community by delivering meals and having congregate meal sites for people in Bowie and Cass counties.

“We deliver 800 meals a day and satellite them out from the main kitchen in Bowie County,” said Eden Leach, executive director of Senior Citizens Services, which has congregate meal sites in Atlanta, Linden, Texarkana, New Boston, Hooks, Maud and DeKalb.

There are 24 drivers who deliver hot meals directly to the home for many clients. The drivers also play another role.
