Texarkana, Texas: City’s water slightly over contamination limit

Chlorine reacting with organic material the source of the higher test levels

Texarkana Water Utilities is mailing letters to its Texarkana, Texas, customers, notifying them of a tiny problem in their water.

Recent tests revealed a contamination level that slightly exceeds state limits and the problem comes from the water sources, not TWU.

Bill King, TWU’s executive director, said there is not a definitive explanation to the “unusually high amounts” of organic material found in Texarkana’s two water sources, Millwood Lake and Wright Patman Reservoir.
