A man whose cooperation likely led to long prison sentences for four people involved in the murders of two men, received probation Thursday for his role in the crime.

David Sams, 30, whose legs have been amputated above the knee, appeared before Judge Joe Griffin in a wheelchair Thursday.

Sams was a key witness in the trial of Tommy Sevier, Kristi Sevier, Samantha Sevier and Charles Daniel Hutchinson, who were charged in the Feb. 15, 2005 murders of Patrick Dickey, 21 and Billy Drumm, 22.
