Lawyer: DISD violated First Amendment

The attorney representing a Detroit, Texas, middle school student accused of looking at inappropriate material on the Internet is asking a federal judge to rule the district’s Internet usage policy is unconstitutional.

David Carter, of the Texarkana firm Mercy, Carter and Tidwell, says decisions in other cases clearly show that an Internet policy such as that cited by DISD as license to punish the girl for playing an Internet game called “Sexy Dress Up” is unconstitutional.
