Texans to vote on new plates

Texans may be gearing up for the presidential primary election next month, but they also have something else to vote on—the five designs for new Texas license plates.

For the first time, Texans get a say which new plate designs will become available in 2009. The statewide change is driven by population growth. After 33 years and 20 million vehicles, the Lone Star State has outgrown its alpha-numeric license plate pattern and will add a seventh digit next year.
