83-year-old Cy Manasco calls Seth Eastridge ‘my buddy’ after eighth-grader rescued him from his burning home

HORATIO, Ark.—It was a good thing 14-year-old Seth Eastridge was home sick from school with bronchitis Thursday morning. He probably saved the life of Cy Manasco, 83, whose house was destroyed by fire.

Seth was watching television just before 8 a.m. at his family’s residence on Frog Level Road southeast of Horatio.

Home health nurse Laura Smith, who was taking care of Seth’s 6-year-old brother Jacob, noticed smoke coming from Manasco’s house nearby.

Seth kept a cough drop in his mouth as he ran over to the burning house to find the neighbor he calls Uncle Cy...
