Coin show worth its weight in gold

Traders and collectors flash jewelry, metals at Texarkana College

Collectors and traders presented 40 tables of precious metals, unique pieces, jewelry and other specialty items Friday and Saturday at the Truman Arnold Student Center at Texarkana College.

“Gold and silver have gone up, so even old common silver coins are up,” said Frank McFerrin, spokesman for The Texarkana Coin Club, which hosted the 46th annual Coin Show. “The price of gold has gone up to $976 an ounce so everything gold in people’s jewelry boxes is much more valuable.”
