The special advisory panel at Texas A&M University-Texarkana that is vetting candidates for the president’s post has whittled 27 applications down to three, officials said.

Current President Dr. Stephen Hensley announced his retirement in June. His last day is Aug. 31.

The committee posted the opening at the beginning of the year and formally reviewed candidate credentials on Jan. 23. The field of 27 was narrowed to 10.
