Red Lick Independent School District will have a new board member after the May 10 election, said Superintendent Dr. Richard Hervey.

“Incumbent Terry Benefield will not be running,” Hervey said.

In February, when filing opened, Hervey thought the one-term board member would seek re-election. But Benefield did not file his paperwork.

He has been on the board for a year and was elected to fill an unexpired term in 2007.

Benefield did not return a phone call seeking comment by presstime Monday.
