A Longview, Texas, man was killed Saturday night following a one-vehicle accident involving a “domestic animal” on state Highway 37 in Red River County, officials said.

John Wesley Sparks, 56, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, Sharon Williams, 56, of Bogata, Texas, was taken to Titus Regional Medical Center with minor cuts and bruises, said Trooper Sylvia Jennings, spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety.
